Teacher Appreciation Week Thank You Letter

My kids get really excited to come up with special ways of saying thank you for being a great teacher every year.

Their first school where they went to for Kindergarten didn’t do much to say thank you to all the teachers. However, at our new school where they’ve been since first grade, they go all out during teacher appreciation week.

Parents get really involved, kids bring in flowers and write short thank you letters to their teachers, and come up with creative ways to simply say thank you for being a great teacher whether it’s with a fun painted rock, or easy teacher appreciation letter like the one I’m sharing with you.

There are a ton of great homemade teacher appreciation gift ideas out there… but what I always hear year after year from teachers, is how much they appreciate a letter from their student using their own words to describe what a great teacher they think their own teacher is.

You can pair this Free PDF Teacher Appreciation Letter Printable I’m sharing below with a great teacher gift you pick from your garden or pay for at Starbucks, but it’s a fun way to jot down  a short thank you to a teacher on it’s own too!

(Plus, there’s a small area for your child to draw a picture of their teacher, too.)

I’ve created five – yes five – different printable teacher appreciation letter templates and a page of certificate of appreciation you can print or email to your child’s teacher(s), and know they’ll treasure their words, maybe even more than their best teacher ever coffee mug.

5 Teacher Appreciation Letter Templates

I went a little wild creative teacher appreciation letters this year, and that’s why I created five different templates including a basic black and white version.

When teacher appreciation week rolls around, you won’t be scrambling for something cute & creative to come up with!

All you have to do is fill it out online and email it to your teacher, or print it out and send it with your child to give to them at school.

The first year my twins were in school, they asked me… “how do you tell a teacher you appreciate them?”

We talked about the ways you show and tell about someone who helps you, teaches you, cares for you and encourages you by expressing your feelings with words and with creative ways (art, song, etc.)

The first year, they created pictures with their art supplies and I helped them fill out their Thank You For Being a Great Teacher Printables. Now that they’re almost 9, they can write their own words out and I know it’ll be legible for their teacher to read.

They also like to pick a few flowers from our yard and bring them with their short thank you letter for their teacher.

Tip: If you have a little one at home, or they’re in preschool, an adult can help translate their words onto paper so teachers can read… but let them draw the picture for fun!
