Elf on the Shelf “Caught You Being Good” Note Cards

Here are the original Elf on the Shelf Note Cards if you want to snag both versions and stock up.

Here’s the deal when it comes to Elf on the Shelf…

Yes, my kids love the fun of Elf on the Shelf.

No, he doesn’t watch over the kids and tattle tell to Santa about bad behavior or threaten they’ll lose presents if they don’t follow directions or aren’t being nice to one another.

To us, that only takes away from the fun of the holidays.

And when have empty threats ever worked?

This is a special time of year and looming threats from an Elf or Santa takes away from the nostalgia this time of year.

We use the Elf on the Shelf to reinforce positive behavior and encourage acts of kindness – that’s what these Elf on the Shelf “Caught you Being Good” Cards are all about.

Side Note: Last year I initially misplaced our Elf on the Shelf and ran out to buy a replacement, but once the kids found the originally, suddenly we had two versions to get creative with.

I don’t recommend this because after about 10 days, setting up two Elves every morning gets tricky!

What does Our Elf on the Shelf Do With These Note Cards?

Peppermint and Pablo, our two elves (yes, it’s a story about how Mom misplaced all our Christmas supplies one year and then found it after we’d already gotten another Elf, but the kids insist we have TWO…) are all about having a good time; they spread joy with creative and ornery tricks that have the kids racing downstairs to find them every morning.

There’s something else our elves do that make them extra special.

They boost confidence, catch the kids being good, and shine a spotlight on their acts of kindness towards others, when they’re helpful and working hard.

The kids love to receive note cards from the Elf on the Shelf and share them with their friends or hang them up on our family bulletin board.

Similar to a “caught you being good” card at school, kids love to feel recognized for the positive things they do and how hard they work day in and day out.
